  • Incorporated in the State of Michigan as a non-profit corporation
  
  • Founded by Dr. Larry Connor, PhD, in 2008
  
  • Dr. Connor is an internationally acclaimed bee expert
  
  • 550 members as of January, 2012
  
  • Membership is free – there are no dues
  
  • Joining the Kalamazoo Bee Club simply requires signing up on an email list

  • Governance is through a Board of Directors
  
  • The Board operates under the Bylaws of the organization
  
  • Bylaws provide for no less than 5 nor more than 12 directors
  
  • Vacancies on the board are filled by the board
  
  • Operating expenses typically run $300 per month, $3,600 per year
  
  • Donations, gifts and fund-raising events provide operating funds
  
  • Bylaws provide for a Finance Committee if the cash balance ever exceeds $5000
  
  • Special events like Bee School are self-funded through registration fees
  
  • The Board of Directors has a policy defining and prohibiting conflict of interest
  
  • Financial statements are filed annually with the State and Federal governments
  
  • The Board of Directors meets 7 times per year
